Mumbai High Court Recruitment for Stenographer Post: A golden opportunity has come for those who dream of a job in the court. Bombay High Court has issued a notification for Stenographer Recruitment. The application process for this recruitment has started from 27 October 2025 and candidates can apply online till 10 November 2025. Applications can be made on Bombay High Court official website bombayhighcourt.nic.in. Total 12 Stenographer Posts will be filled under this recruitment process. These posts are for filling vacancies in various offices under the High Court.

What is the educational qualification?

Candidates for the post of Stenographer must possess a graduation degree from a recognized university. Those who have worked as a junior stenographer in a High Court or other court for at least five years will be exempted from certain eligibility requirements. Candidates with Law degree will be given preference in the selection process. Additionally, a speed of 100 words per minute in English shorthand and 40 words per minute in English typing is mandatory. Candidates must also clear the GCC-TBC course conducted by the Government Professional Certificate Examination or MSCE conducted by the Maharashtra State Examinations Board.

Age Limit and Salary

Minimum age for Stenographer recruitment is 21 years and maximum age is 43 years. However, age relaxation will be given to reserved category candidates as per government norms. Selected candidates will get salary ranging from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month, dearness allowance, traveling allowance and government benefits. This pay scale is as per 7th Pay Commission. All category candidates will also have to pay a fee of ₹1,000.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The selection process for Stenographer recruitment will be conducted in three stages, the first stage will be Shorthand Test. In this, candidates will have to give a dictation and transcription test. The second stage will be a typing test to assess the candidate’s speed and the third stage will be an interview. Merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in all the three stages. In the shorthand test, candidates will be given two English passages, with 5 minutes for dictation and 30 minutes for transcription. Moreover, in the typing test, candidates have to type an English passage of 400 words in 10 minutes. In the interview round, a merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s confidence and communication skills.
