Vikram Gokhale was born on 30 October 1940 in Pune, Maharashtra. His father Chandrakant Gokhale was also a veteran actor of Marathi theater and films. His family has a long history of cinema and theatre, including his father and grandparents. Since childhood, he showed interest towards acting and started his career by participating in many stage shows.

Vikram Gokhale started his film career with the film ‘Parvana’ released in 1971. After this, he made memorable appearances in many films and TV serials and also made his mark in Marathi theatre. He got special recognition after playing the role of Aishwarya Rai’s father in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’. Vikram Gokhale won the hearts of the audience with his acting in many films, like ‘Agneepath’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘Hichki’ and ‘Mission Mangal’. He also did brilliant work in TV serials, which include ‘Sanjeevani’, ‘Indradhanush’ and ‘Udaan’. Apart from this, he also showed his talent in the web series ‘Avarodh: The Siege Within’.

Vikram was awarded the National Film Award
Vikram Gokhale was not only a great actor but also a director, he directed the Marathi film ‘Aghat’ in 2010. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to theater and the National Film Award for the Marathi film ‘Anumati’. He retired from the stage in 2016 due to throat problems and died on 26 November 2022.
