The film ‘The Taj Story’ has come into controversy due to its content. Recently, a PIL was filed against the release of the film The Taj Story and the Censor Board certificate given to it. Now Delhi High Court has refused to hear this matter soon.
Demand for ban on film release
This film is going to be released on 31st October. The petitioner had demanded from the court to ban the release of the film and cancel the certificate given by the Censor Board. However, the court said that there is no need for an early hearing in the case. Therefore it cannot be listed for immediate hearing.
Lawyer Shakeel Abbas had filed a public interest litigation in the Delhi High Court. The petitioner’s lawyer said that history was distorted in the film. The film may worsen the communal atmosphere.
The petitioner has said, ‘Both the Central Government and the Censor Board are aware of the possible side effects of the film. Despite this he did not take any step. The Censor Board should be instructed to review the certificate of the film again. If necessary, an adult certificate should be given or orders should be given to remove some scenes. A disclaimer should be added to the film that this is a fictional story. It does not claim historical facts.
