Veteran Bollywood and TV actor Satish Shah passed away recently. Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to posthumously award the prestigious Padmashree award to late actor Satish Shah. The federation said the move would be a true tribute to the actor’s remarkable career and his indelible impact on Indian entertainment.

The letter sent by FWICE to Prime Minister Narendra Modi reads, “Respected Modiji, with folded hands and deep respect, we, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), humbly appeal to consider conferring the Padma Shri Award (posthumously) on Late Shri Satish Shah, one of India’s most beloved and iconic actors.” Praising the late actor, the letter described him as “a rare and gifted artiste” whose work brought joy, laughter and emotion to the lives of millions of people across the country. It also mentioned his memorable performances in ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’, ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and many other memorable projects, which had made him a household name.

In addition to his work on screen, the federation also highlighted Shah’s warmth and generosity in the industry. “He was highly respected in the working community and generously and graciously supported many of FWICE’s welfare initiatives,” the letter said. The letter further said that his demise has left “an emotional void in the hearts of all who knew him”.

The appeal further reads, “Honoring him with the Padma Shri Award (posthumous) would be the most fitting tribute to a life dedicated to art, culture and service through entertainment. It would recognize not just an actor, but a man who made India smile for more than four years. A tribute to a legend who made India laugh.” The federation concluded the letter by expressing confidence in the Prime Minister’s continued recognition of India’s cultural pioneers. It said, “We, The entire film and television fraternity under FWICE, makes this humble request to you with deep faith in your continued encouragement.”
