Both the films ‘Thama’ and ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ came together at the box office on the same day on 21st October. Both the films got the audience, but ‘Thama’ opened the account with almost 3 times the earning of ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ on the opening day.
Till now, even though the film of Maddock Horror Universe has come close to making 100 crores, but in this game of box office figures, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has gone ahead of it. Let us understand from the figures.
‘The madness of a crazy person’ overshadowed ‘Thama’, know how
- The star cast of ‘Thama’ is big. There are actors like Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Apart from this, the film has nostalgia of films like ‘Stree’ and ‘Bhediya’ and many big cameos. Because of this, the daily earning of the film is more than that of ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’.
- Despite this, ‘Thama’ has lagged behind in one particular matter and that is budget recovery. Actually, there is a huge difference in the budget of both the films.
- Where according to Times of India, ‘Thama’ has been made for Rs 145 crores. So, according to Koimoi, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has been made for only Rs 25 crores.
- According to the synopsis of both the films, if we look at the earnings till now, ‘Thama’ has earned around Rs 60 crores. Now it will have to earn around Rs 85 crore more to meet the budget.
- Whereas ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has been made in just Rs 25 crores and till now it has taken out the total budget. Apparently, Sonam Bajwa and Harshvardhan Rane’s film has left Ayushmann Khurrana’s film behind in terms of budget recovery.
What was positive for ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’?
While the promotion and star cast of ‘Thama’ was so huge that the budget of the film reached around Rs 150 crores, whereas ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ got viewers only because of word of mouth.
Nothing much was spent on the promotion of the film. This is the reason why the film is going to be included in the successful films even before ‘Thama’ after making the full budget. Film actor Harshvardhan has gone on an India tour with his own van and that is all the promotion is, nothing else.
