If your periods are not regular ie.. after 35 days or sometimes not for 2 months or bleeding too little or too much then it could be PCOS. Many think this is due to stress or fatigue. But that’s PCOS. If there is this problem then it happens because the ovary is not formed on time. This affects the entire menstrual cycle. You should also consult a doctor if you do not have periods for 2-3 months consecutively or if the bleeding is heavy.
Are you gaining weight even though you are eating well and exercising? Is fat accumulating especially around the stomach? This may be due to insulin resistance. This is very common in PCOS. In this the body does not process the sugar levels properly. Weight begins to increase rapidly. Do not take it lightly if you gain weight even after eating a little food.
If you start growing thick black hair on your face, especially on your chin or upper lip, chest, it is a sign of hormonal imbalance. In PCOS, the amount of androgens in the body increases. This causes hair growth in women.. as in men. Repeated waxing or shaving is necessary.
Anyone can get acne. But if they come more often.. if no cream, medicine or home tips are followed, it does not decrease.. it may be a sign of PCOS. Increased androgen hormones in the body make the skin more oily. If acne does not go away even after teenage.. get hormone tests done.
PCOS can cause the problem of unwanted hair. It also makes the hair thin and weak. If your hair is already thinning or the hair loss is excessive, make sure it is not due to age or stress. Get a hormone test if hair loss or baldness is evident.
Dark or velvety patches may appear on certain areas of your skin, such as the back of your neck, armpits, or waist. Ovulation does not occur regularly due to PCOS in women. This causes problems in pregnancy. Even if trying for pregnancy.. if no result then it can also be PCOS. If you do not conceive after 6-12 months of trying, consult your doctor.
PCOS affects not only physically but also mentally. Most of the time the effect is always feeling tired. The mind may also manifest in unexplained sadness, mood swings, insomnia, or excessive sleeping. If these symptoms appear.. it is PCOS.
