Kidney Health: The function of every organ in our body is important, but kidney is considered to be the most important organ. Because the kidney performs many responsibilities like purifying the blood, expelling harmful elements from the body, maintaining the balance of water and minerals. But some daily habits that we do without knowing are very dangerous for these kidneys. Interestingly, a simple mistake we make every day while cooking can shorten the life of the kidney and eventually lead to dialysis. (Health)
Effects of bad habits on the body
Most people don’t pay much attention to kidney health until it starts to deteriorate. Kidney diseases grow silently at first and it takes a long time for symptoms to appear. Swelling in the body, fatigue, frequent urination are the symptoms, but the stress on the kidneys is increased. That is why it is important to avoid small mistakes in lifestyle and diet to keep the kidneys healthy.
‘Excess salt’ is the biggest risk for kidneys
Salt is the main ingredient of taste in everyday food, but if its quantity is not controlled, it acts like a poison for the body. Eating too much salt increases the amount of water in the body and blood pressure is not controlled. This causes constant stress on the kidneys. Interestingly, too much salt increases the amount of sodium in the body and the kidneys have to work harder to excrete it.
This constant pressure on the kidney reduces its filtering capacity. If this condition persists for a long time, the micro blood vessels in the kidney get damaged. Gradually kidney function stops completely and then dialysis is required.
Habits essential to maintain kidney health
The most important thing to keep the kidneys healthy is to reduce the amount of salt in the diet. Consume maximum 5 grams of salt per day. Along with that, drinking plenty of water, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and staying away from junk food is also essential. Stress, lack of sleep and over consumption of drugs are also dangerous for kidneys. Kidney disease is difficult to control once it occurs. So it is necessary to change our habits from today.
