According to reports, the basic pay may increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 41,000 or Rs 51,480. This increase depends on the fitment factor, which can be determined between 2.28 to 2.86. Fitment factor is a matter of applying increment to current salary. Each time the pay commission decides according to the economic and budgetary conditions.

Not only the basic pay, but also other allowances available to the watchmen are likely to increase. These include Drought Allowance (DA), Traveling Allowance (TA) and Housing Allowance (HRA). Experts say that if there is an increase in the basic pay, there will naturally be an increase in these allowances as well. That means watchmen will see a significant increase in total revenue.
Why does the watchman get the most benefit?
Group-D employees, which include watchmen, sanitation workers and other lower-ranking government employees, are likely to get a higher percentage hike as their existing basic pay is very low. In percentage terms, they directly benefit from the increase. The standard of living improves.
