stampede at the Kashi Bugga Venkateswara Swamy temple: Nine devotees were killed and many injured in a stampede at the Kashi Bugga Venkateswara Swamy temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district. The death toll is feared to rise as the condition of some of the injured is critical. The incident took place on the auspicious occasion of Ekadashi in the month of Kartik, when a large crowd of devotees had gathered at the temple for darshan. A sudden crowd surged near the entrance of the temple complex, causing panic and a stampede. Many people fell down and were crushed by the crowd. As soon as the information was received, the administration started relief and rescue operations. The injured have been admitted to a nearby government hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. The district administration is closely monitoring the situation and additional police force has been deployed to control the situation. Eyewitnesses say that the crowd at the temple had increased significantly since morning and the situation went out of control due to lack of adequate security arrangements. The local administration has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The loss of life due to the stampede is very tragic

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said, “The loss of life due to the stampede at the Kashibuga Venkateswara temple in Srikakulam district is very sad.. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I have directed the authorities to give the best treatment to the injured. I have asked local authorities and public representatives to visit the spot and monitor the relief efforts.”

Union Minister Nara Lokesh said on the accident, “It is very sad that many devotees died in the stampede at Kashibuga Venkateswara temple. It was a major accident on Ekadashi day. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. Our government is providing the best medical treatment to those injured in the stampede. As soon as I got the information, I spoke to the authorities, District Minister Achannaidu and local MLA Gauthu Sirisha. I ordered immediate assistance to the victims. are given.”
