The Center has already agreed to form the commission. The government has announced that it will implement the decision of the 8th Pay Commission from next January. The salary of an officer holding such an important position and the increase in pay is always a matter of debate. The post of DIG falls under Level 13A in BSF. The starting salary for this level is Rs. 1,31,100. Add to this the forward fund and other allowances, the total salary of DIG is very attractive.
Effect of 8th Pay Commission
As per media reports, talking about the 8th Pay Commission, it is expected that there will be a good increase in DIG salary after its implementation. If the fitment factor is 2.86, the salary will be around Rs. 3,74,946 can be reached.

- Monitoring of BSF operations
- Monitoring staff performance, training and discipline
- Formulating and implementing plans for regional security
- Determining strategies for security risks and emergencies
Many allowances are available
According to reports, DIGs also get various allowances. These include House Rent Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Travel Allowance, other special allowances which further increase their monthly salary.
When was it approved?
Talking about the 8th Pay Commission, the Union Cabinet has approved it in early 2025. However, no notification has been received in this regard yet. But the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday agreed to release the notification. The 8th Pay Commission will benefit more than 50 lakh central government employees and around 65 lakh pensioners.
