Mumbai: Unknown calls on mobile are a headache for many. So, to get rid of the unknown or unknown number, the mobile owners choose to not pick up the phone or block the respective number. Often, we get many questions about who exactly the unknown number belongs to, what will be its function. However, now the tension of unknown calls will go away and the unknown name will appear on your mobile screen. So, after receiving a call on your mobile phone, the name of the concerned person will be displayed along with the number. Because, Department of Telecommunication has given instructions to Telecom Industries to start CNAP services in the country.
If you receive a call from an unknown person on your mobile phone, the name and number of that person will be displayed soon. Because, Central Government has taken steps to start Calling Name Presentation Service i.e. CNAP service on mobile phones in India. So from now on you will see the real name of the person contacting you on the mobile along with the number. According to the recommendation of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI, the central government has directed the mobile companies to start CNAP services. Instructions have been given to start this CNAP service in at least one circle in the next 7 days. Therefore, it is hoped that spam calls coming on mobiles and cases of fraud by contacting mobiles will be curbed.
TRAI i.e. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India had issued its recommendations regarding this service in February 2024 itself. Accordingly, users can see the name of the concerned person along with the calling number on the mobile screen. The name of the person in whose name SIM card will be displayed on the mobile screen. The name of the caller will be determined by the name mentioned in the Customer Application Form (CAF). Only the name given by the customer will appear along with this number while purchasing the SIM.
Compulsory to provide services to companies
As per TRAI’s recommendation, CNAP will be included in the Indian telecom network as a “supplementary service”. For which Calling Line Identification (CLI) has been defined. So, caller ID will be both mobile number and name. All telecom companies in the country such as Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL will be required to provide this facility to their customers. Meanwhile, currently mobile phone holders are getting this service through the True Caller app and the name of the concerned person along with the mobile number can also be seen.
