IND-W vs AUS-W Mumbai: India has reached the semifinals of the Women’s ODI World Cup. India face the mighty Australia in the semi-finals. However, before this match, India got a big shock. India’s in-form opener Pratika Rawal suffered an injury in the World Cup match against Bangladesh. Because of that she has to go out of the competition. Finally, the ICC has approved the inclusion of India’s attacking batsman Shafali Verma in place of Pratika Rawal in the team. Shafali Verma could get a place in the squad for the semi-final against Australia. India and Australia on October 30 at D.Y. in Navi Mumbai. We will play matches at Patil Stadium.
Shafali Verma last played ODI match in July 2024 i.e. almost half a year ago. She has played 29 ODIs, 5 Tests and 90 T20 Internationals for India.
The ICC issued a press release on Monday. Accordingly, it was informed that Pratika Rawal was injured while fielding in the match against Bangladesh and that Shafali Verma has been replaced in the team. A stretcher was brought to take Prathika out of the field but she walked out of the field with support staff. Pratika Rawal was in strong form in the ODI World Cup. She had scored 308 runs at an average of 51.33.
Pratika Rawal scored her first century in the World Cup against New Zealand. Became the joint fastest player to 1000 runs in ODIs. Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana gave India a strong start by performing well.
Shafali Verma has scored 644 runs in 29 matches at an average of 23. Due to lack of consistency in performance, Shafali Verma had to lose his place in the ODI team. But she plays in T20 team. Richa Ghosh’s fitness is also a question mark. She did not play in the match against Bangladesh.
Shafali Verma scored 70 runs in 49 balls while playing for India A against New Zealand before the World Cup. Shafali Verma is the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket.
