Medal for best fielding to Jemima
In the match against Australia, Jemima Rodríguez took a brilliant catch at run out, which won her the best fielder award.
What did Jemima Rodriguez say in the video?
When Jemima was awarded the best fielder medal, she also mentioned her innings against Australia. Jemima said, “I was tired when I was on 85. The teammates kept coming onto the field and giving me water to drink.” Jemima also mentions Deepti Sharma. She said, “I told Deepti to keep talking to me. After that she kept motivating me, even giving up her wicket to get runs. As she was leaving, she told me, ‘No, no problem, just finish the match.’ Jemima said that it is often said that special innings is discussed, but without partnership and short innings it is impossible. It is often overlooked, but the innings of Deepti, Richa Ghosh and Amanjot Kaur were crucial. “I had a good partnership with my sister (Harman),” she said.
A chance to win the ODI World Cup for the first time
It used to be that if we lost one wicket, we lost the match, but this Indian team has changed that. At the end of the video, she said, “Now we’ve done enough, just one…” Jemima was referring to winning the final. The Indian team has previously reached the ODI World Cup final in 2005 and 2017. So, now they have a chance to win the ODI World Cup final for the first time.
