India vs Australia Women’s World Cup semi-final : Australia captain Alyssa Healy has given a big hint about her ODI career following their defeat to India in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s World Cup. After the loss against India, she said that she might not be part of the squad for the next World Cup in 2029. In the match played in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, Australia scored 338 runs, but India won by 5 wickets to knock them out of the tournament. In this match, Jemima Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 127 to lead India to a resounding victory, but an easy catch was missed by Healy.

Healy looked very disappointed after this big match loss. After winning the toss, she elected to bat first and Australia built up a big score, but then both bowlers and fielders missed chances. The Indian team won on the strength of Jemima’s 127 and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s 89 and booked their ticket to the finals.

What did Australian captain Alyssa Healy say?

When asked about Australia’s plans for the next World Cup, Healy said, “I won’t be there… I think that’s the real thrill of this next cycle, we’ll see what happens. The T20 World Cup is coming up in the middle of next year, which will be very exciting for our team. But I think there will be some changes again in our ODI cricket. We’ve done a lot of things right, made a few mistakes, learned from them and come back stronger.”

The next Women’s World Cup will be held in 2029. Alyssa Healy will be 39 years old then, and recent injuries make it difficult for her to play consistently for the next few years. However, it will come as a surprise to everyone if she decides to continue with the game. “Today was a good match, but we did ourselves a disservice. For the first time, it felt like we didn’t finish well, mistakes were made on all three fronts, batting, bowling and fielding,” she said.
