Cricket Australia expressed condolences
“We are shocked by the death of 17-year-old Melbourne cricketer Ben Austin. This accident while training in the nets has shocked the entire cricket world,” Cricket Australia posted on Twitter. Cricket Victoria also offered its condolences, saying, “Our condolences go out to the Austin family, his colleagues and Ferntree Gully Cricket Club as well as the Victorian cricket community.”
Accident during practice, life and death battle in hospital

Colleagues immediately helped. After first aid, Ben Austin was rushed to the hospital, where he was placed on a life support system. His condition was said to be critical. Ringwood and District Cricket Association president Michael Finn has assured his family of all possible support. But despite all efforts, Ben Austin could not be saved. This incident, which shook the cricket world, once again raises serious questions about security issues in cricket.

The incident of 2014 was remembered
Ben’s death reminded the entire cricketing world once again of the tragic death of Phillip Hughes in 2014. In 2014, Hughes died after being struck in the neck by a ball while playing in a Sheffield Shield match. After that incident, Cricket Australia tightened safety and concussion protocols. However, the incident in Austin has once again raised questions about safety standards at the playground.
