Dinanath Singh on Sikandar Shaikh : The arrest of Maharashtra Kesari champion wrestler Sikandar Shaikh, who was involved in illegal arms smuggling case, by the Punjab Police has created a lot of excitement in the wrestling sector. The famous wrestler who represented India at the international level has been widely discussed due to serious allegations. As per investigation by Punjab Police, Sikander Sheikh has been arrested in connection with Papala Gurjar gang in Rajasthan.

Hindkesari Dinanath Singh, a senior wrestler in the wrestling world, has expressed his displeasure after this incident. Speaking to ABP Mazha, he said, “Sikander Sheikh has disgraced our Gangavesh talami and red clay. He is not a real Maharashtra Kesari. Doing such things just for money is an insult to the sport of wrestling. He is a wrestler who does not listen to Vastada, he has spoiled the name of wrestling.”
On the other hand, Sikander Sheikh’s parents have claimed his innocence. They feel that Sikandar has been duped in this case and the truth will come out after investigation. Sikandar’s father, wrestler Rashid Shaikh said, “My son has earned his name very hard, someone has tricked him into this case. I have earned through halam all my life, if I don’t earn haram money myself, how will my son earn haram money? Sikandar got hundreds of forts, trains and jobs in the army. He didn’t need any such thing. Hind Kesari tournament is near, he was preparing without playing. I don’t understand if this is not a trick to give.”

The case is currently being investigated by the Punjab Police, and there is an atmosphere of anger and frustration in the wrestling world due to this incident. Although Sikander Sheikh hails from Solapur, he took up wrestling at Gangavesh Talmi in Kolhapur. Due to hard work, he won the prestigious ‘Maharashtra Kesari’ title two years ago and became a household name. After that he was recruited in the Indian Army from sports quota, but after some time he left the job. Sikandar, a graduate, had been living in a rented house in Punjab for the past few months. According to the police, he was working as a middleman in the arms supply chain.
