India beat Australia 3rd T20 : India have created history at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. In the third T20 match, India won against Australia by 5 wickets. Australia batted first and scored 186 runs. In reply the Indian team reached the target with 9 balls to spare. With this win, India became the first nation to beat Australia in a T20I match at Bellerive Ground. Washington Sundar played an important role in the team’s success with an unbeaten 49.
Tim David and Marcus Stoinis blast!
Batting first after losing the toss, the Australian team suffered two setbacks in the first three overs. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Travis Head and Josh English in his first two overs. Head scored just 6 runs, while Inglis returned for just 1 run. After this, captain Mitchell Marsh and Tim David shared a partnership of 59 runs in 35 balls for the third wicket. This pair was broken by Varun Chakraborty. In the ninth over, he took two wickets off two consecutive balls. On the second ball, Marsh was caught by Tilak Verma. He was dismissed for just 11 runs. On the very next ball, Varun bowled Mitchell Owen, Owen was out for a wicket.
Meanwhile, Tim David completed his half-century with a powerful innings. He shared a 27-ball 45-run partnership with Marcus Stoinis for the fifth wicket. David scored 74 runs off 38 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes before being dismissed by Shivam Dube. Stoinis then put on a 39-ball 64-run partnership with Matthew Short for the sixth wicket. Stoinis was also sent back by Arshdeep. He scored 64 runs off 39 balls with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes. In the end Short scored 26 runs off 15 balls and Javier Bartlett remained unbeaten on 3 runs. Arshdeep Singh was the most effective of the Indian bowlers, taking 3 wickets. Varun Chakraborty took 2 wickets while Shivam Dubey took 1 wicket.
Washington Sundar’s storming innings
Chasing runs, Abhishek Sharma looked in strong form, but did not last long on the pitch. Abhishek lost his wicket to Nathan Ellis after scoring 25 off 16 balls (2 fours, 2 sixes). Ellis then sent back Shubman Gill too (15 runs). Skipper Suryakumar Yadav (24 runs) looked in rhythm, but he too lost his wickets. After the third wicket, Akshar Patel (17 runs) and Tilak Verma combined to take the team’s score past 100 runs. But Ellis gave Australia an important blow by dismissing Axar Patel. After this, Tilak Verma and Washington Sundar shared a crucial partnership of 34 runs for the fifth wicket. Tilak Verma was the victim of Xavier Bartlett with 29 runs. Then, Washington Sundar (49*) and Jitesh Sharma (22*) led India to victory.
